About

Hi, I'm Dillon J. Carroll

I'm a historian of United States History, specializing in the American Civil War with thematic interests in social and cultural history, gender, history of medicine, veterans, and African American history.

I'm a California native and I received a B.A., and an M.A. in History from California State University, Chico. I received a Ph.D from the University of Georgia in 2016. I currently live in New York City and teach at Hunter College, CUNY, and St. Francis College.

I have been published in the Civil War History Journal and The New York Times. I have also written for several museums and journals in an online format.

In addition to my career as a historian, I still regularly play tennis and volleyball, and I like to chase down the best happy hours in the city.
